The WSO2 Voice
Sanjiva Weerawarana
Founder and CEO of WSO2
I'm excited to introduce the first ever WSO2 monthly newsletter, developed specifically for our community of SOA and middleware developers and architects. If you are using WSO2 or Apache products, or just getting to know them, we've designed this newsletter just for you. We'll feature product release information, news about upcoming training and events, developer tips and tricks, and lots of other helpful stuff. Since we're designing this for YOU, make sure to let us know what you'd like to see more (or less!) of in the future.
In this issue
Every enterprise lives in a heterogeneous world today. One of the key promises of SOA is that by abstracting functionality into services and publishing them using technology such as XML and Web services, that customers would be able to achieve interoperability across all of the customer's service implementation technologies. A key part of WSO2's strategy from the beginning has been to support all major JVM based languages (Java, Javascript, Groovy, JRuby, Jython and more), C/C++ and all major scripting languages (PHP, Perl, Ruby, Python and more). That's why we've invested into build our Web Services Framework product in so many languages and continue to invest into making sure they interoperate seamlessly with each other and other platforms such as .NET.
Last month we really kicked our interop efforts into overdrive, with our new Stock Trader demo that showcases our Java + .NET + PHP interoperability. We were even featured onstage at a Microsoft keynote at their TechEd conference in Orlando last month, with one of their bigwigs letting us take the stage to show this demo. It was the first time an open source company was featured so prominently during a major Microsoft exec keynote - a big milestone for both Microsoft and the open source movement. I'm pleased to announce that we've just launched our new Interop section in our Oxygen Tank developer portal, with lots of documentation and resources to help ensure that success for our users.
Finally, if any of you will be at OSCON later this month, in Portland OR, be sure to stop by our booth. We'll be showing the Stock Trader demo, which we're expanding to include Perl and Ruby, plus lots more. Hope to see you there!
